Federal Judge Clamps Down Info From Boykin Suit

ABERDEEN, MS (WCBI) – A federal judge says no information from former Columbus Police Officer Canyon Boykin’s lawsuit against the city will become public until the trial.  Boykin is the Columbus officer who killed Ricky Ball in October 2015 after Ball fled a traffic stop. Boykin was fired from his position and is suing to get his job back.

Judge David Sanders Thursday signed an order sealing all documents in the case.  Sanders particularly singled out the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation files on the case and the personnel records of any current or former Columbus Police officers.   Depositions and responses to them are also covered under the order which both sides agreed to.
