Finally Landed

GOLDEN TRIANGLE AREA, Miss. (WCBI) – The power outage at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta is being felt across the country, including the Golden Triangle.

At the GTR Airport, three different flights were cancelled.

Passengers coming from Atlanta landed around noon and were met with the Chirstmas spirit.

Airport employees were waiting with Christmas cookies and refreshments, a nice ending to a nightmare of a flight delay.

“We landed and we couldn’t get in. There was no flights in, no flights out. We sat on the plane for five-ish hours. It was a Delta airplane, and they treated us well. They gave us free drinks and food to keep us accommodated. We got off, and it was pitch black in the airport, you know. No one met us at the gate, which was kind of interesting, so it was kind of people wandering around asking questions. But eventually people got settled,” says passenger and Jackson resident, Christopher Butler.

“Our people here are taking of the passengers, rebooking them, and most of the are going out today or going to another airport. Today, Delta’s been in the process of recovering the aircraft and the crews back into Atlanta so they can launch back out and resume the normal schedule,” says GTR’s Executive Director Mike Hainsey.

The Atlanta Airport services 275,000 people a day.
