Fire Creates Traffic Headache in Lowndes

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — An old barn filled with timber catches fire in Lowndes County.

Smoke from the fire off Highway 69 South near Corcord Road could be seen for miles in southeastern Lowndes County. And state troopers and sheriff’s deputies spent more than three hours managing traffic because fire trucks blocked Highway 68 while firefighters battled the blaze.

Traffic is flowing again at this hour but fire crews still are working in the area.
