Firework Sales Are Already Booming And Safety Tips Are Important to Remember

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – We’ll soon be ringing in a new year, and firework stands are already seeing the perks.

Business is already booming at Orbit Fireworks in Columbus.

Owner Mitchell Gosa says New Year’s Eve is the second busiest holiday for the store, falling right behind The Fourth of July.

Orbit Fireworks has been opened since last week and will stay open until January 2nd.

Gosa says customers come to shop from the surrounding area and Alabama.

He believes fireworks can bring a spark of happiness this time of year.

“It just helps to bring the spirit up when you start blowing stuff up. Come on and let us help you blow up your old year and start your new year off right,” says Gosa.

If you live in the city limits, it’s important to remember shooting fireworks is illegal.

Safety tips are also important to remember.

Gosa has been in the firework business for over a decade and knows all the risks that come with shooting fireworks.

“I recommend you sit them on the ground, in a bottle or something like that, a step back and let them go off. You don’t want to hold them in your hands and let them go off.”

Gosa also adds to always have a bucket of water and a hose nearby in case of accidents.
