Flight Report Released Involving Sulligent Alabama Flight Nurse

DEWITT, Ark. (WCBI) – The first official word on the crash of a medical helicopter that killed a Sulligent Alabama Flight nurse is out.

The National Transportation Safety Board preliminary accident report shows the flight which went down November 19th near Dewitt, Arkansas was operating normally up until the crash.

The report says residents near the scene reported hearing a loud boom and seeing a plume of fire at the time of the crash.

Inspectors say the majority of the Bell helicopter was found at or near the crash scene.

The report does contain one interesting observation noting that several bird carcasses were located in the wreckage of the helicopter.

Long time paramedic and flight nurse Jim Spruiell of Sulligent was among the three flight crew members killed in the crash.
