Flu season off to a slow start

GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Flu season is officially upon us and that means people are breaking out their Germ-X hoping to stop the virus.

But while it seems to ramping up across the nation here it the Golden Triangle it seems to be pretty calm.

There have been a few cases here and there but nothing compared to last year’s season.

Doctors and pharmacists are still encouraging people to take the time to get the flu shot if you haven’t already.

While they hope the flu continues to stay mild this year you still need to take preventative action.

“We’ve had a few flu cases this year I have not seen a very tough flu season like last year last year was a very very difficult bad flu season nationwide a particularly hard hit Mississippi and it lasted quite a while this year we’ve had a few flu cases but not nearly the extent of last year a lot of strep but very low flu,” said pharmacist Chris Bonner.

Bonner says the flu might start picking up again in the next couple weeks once school starts back up.
