Former Lee County sheriff passes away

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – As voters go to the polls Tuesday, Lee County residents are remembering a long time political voice in the county.

Former Lee County Sheriff Robert Herring died Monday at the age of 79.

The retired Guntown businessman served two terms as the county’s top lawman.

Herring also was elected justice court judge along with serving as Guntown mayor Services will take place Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn.
