Former Lee Deputy Accused Of Assaulting A Prisoner

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A former Lee County deputy is accused of hitting, choking and punching a prisoner.

According to the Daily Journal, Jerrod Davis was arrested for simple assault after a probable cause hearing on Friday afternoon.

Davis’ bond was set at $1,000.

The incident happened on May 7th.

Sheriff Jim Johnson sent this statement to WCBI: “This hearing was a result of an internal investigation by my office. My actions on this matter proves that I will not condone these types of actions.”
