Former NEMCC president passes away

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Northeast Mississippi Community College is mourning the loss of its former president.

Joe M. Childers passed away in January.

Childers served as president from August 27, 1987 until June 30, 1999. He was the first alumnus to lead the school.

NEMCC said Childers dedicated more than a third of a century of his life to the community college.

The health science building on NEMCC’s campus was named after Childers in 2000.
