Former Pickens County Sheriff plea agreement details

PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. (WCBI) – Former Pickens County Sherif David Abston has followed through on his agreement to plead guilty for misusing food pantry items to feed inmates.

Abston filed papers Tuesday admitting he used the food bank goods at the jail and pocketed the savings the jail food account gained from the arrangement.

Abston also pleaded guilty to filing a false tax return because he did not claim the money he made from the scheme.

He will be sentenced at a later date
