Former Shannon Police Chief Honored 21 Years After Murder

SHANNON, Miss. (WCBI)- A slain North Mississippi police chief, will finally be honored on the nation’s largest monument, dedicated to officers killed in the line of duty.

Former Shannon Police Chief, Bobby Spencer’s name, will be added to the National Memorial Wall in May.

Spencer was ambushed in January 1997, as he walked into the police department, following a pre-dawn patrol.

The killer was hidden across the road, and hit Spencer with a long distance shot, from a hunting rifle.

No one has ever been charged with the murder.
