FLOWOOD, Miss. (WCBI) – The former head of the Mississippi prison system is in jail Tuesday. Police arrested former Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Christopher Epps in Flowood.

WJTV, the CBS affiliate in Jackson, reported the news. There’s no update on what the charges are.

Epps pleaded guilty last year after facing accusations of receiving more than $1.4 million in bribes involving prison contracts.

The IRS and FBI were involved in the case. Epps is facing up to 23 years in prison.

Police arrested him Tuesday for allegedly taking light fixtures from his own house, which he already forfeited to the government.
