Former employees and their families help Zachary’s cleanup

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s not just the community rallying around Zachary’s, some of its former employees and their families are too.

Tammy Miles has known Zachary’s owner Doug Pellum, for years.

Their children have grown up together and their families have remained close friends.

Miles’s daughter even used to work for Pellum at the restaurant.

On Monday, Miles had planned on eating a Zachary’s wrap for her birthday lunch, but instead, she went there to help clean.

She said her heart broke for Pellum when she found out about the fire.

“Just what he’s going to be living through the next few months, trying to get back to work and how he’s going to pay his bills and get by.”

Zachary’s said many former employees have been calling and asking to help the restaurant in whatever way they can.
