Fred Shelton Named CPD Chief

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Fred Shelton named permanent Police Chief for Columbus during executive session tonight, January 2.

According to a city spokesman, the vote was unanimous, 6-0, in favor of his appointment.

The 30 plus year veteran of the department had been the interim chief since Oscar Lewis resigned at the end of 2017.
