JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Six candidates hope to fill the late David Gibbs’ seat in Mississippi House of Representatives.

They are: former Bryan Foods employee Jimmy Davidson, longtime former Deputy Clerk Bobbie Coggins-Davis, Reverend Eddie Longstreet, retired

teacher and social worker Jeannie Johnson Staten, and Karl Gibbs, who is David Gibbs’ son. Aberdeen native Roderick Van Daniel is also on the ballot. His many degrees include doctorate from Mississippi State in Rural College Leadership.

District 36 includes all of Clay and parts of Lowndes and Monroe Counties.

The qualifying deadline was Monday (2-11).

The Special election is set for March 12th.

A runoff, if needed, and you know it will be,  will be April 2nd.
