Fulton Police Officer Indicted

FULTON, MS (WCBI) -A Fulton Police officer is on the other side of the law tonight.
Officer  Orlando M Gates was in court today after being indicted on an aggravated domestic assault charge .   The indictment unsealed today says Gates strangled the mother of his child back in February.   Because the two were dating at the time Gates is charged with aggravated domestic violence.  Gates was booked into the Itawamba County jail with bond set at 10 thousand dollars.  Fulton Police and Alderman were aware of the situation and impending indictment so Gates was transferred from the police department to the Fulton street department until the legal situation is resolved.  That move is outlined and allowed  in the Fulton Police department operating manual.
