The Future Of The Two Percent Restaurant Tax Now Rests In Hands Of State Lawmakers

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- After months of going back and forth, the contentious restaurant tax in Columbus and Lowndes County is now in the hands of the legislature.

The bill is House Bill 1665 and it contains the provisions finally agreed on by the Columbus Council and Lowndes County supervisors.

The biggest of those was the $250,000 earmark for the Golden Triangle Development Link, and a change in the way the CVB Board members are selected.

The bill now sits in the Local and Private committee.

No date for debating it in that committee is set.
