‘Girl Scouts Heart of the South’ hosts Women of Distinction Luncheon

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Local women are recognized for their commitment to community service and mentoring.

“Girl Scouts Heart of the South” hosted its Women of Distinction Awards luncheon today in Starkville.

Eight women in business, government, and philanthropy were honored as positive role models whose accomplishments inspire girls to achieve their own goals and dreams.

The event also served as fundraiser for local Girl Scout clubs.

“All of the proceeds go back to the Girl Scouts of the Golden Triangle Area. These women have just done some amazing things to help girls in leadership positions and to enhance their communities. So we’re excited to be able to honor them today,” says Myra Collins of Girl Scouts Heart of the South.

This is the third year the local Girl Scouts organization has hosted the Women of Distinction awards.
