SMITHVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – First Lady Debra Bryant, the wife of the Governor along with Lowndes County Republican Women stopped by Smithville Elementary School bearing gifts today [Monday].

The Smithville School District officials received from the Republican Women well over three thousand dollars in books. Debra Bryant brought with her a five thousand dollar check from Community Bank, along with the monetary donation… lockers for students there. The books will be given to 16 classrooms with students in grades K through six.

“The books focus on patriotism, American symbols, such as the Lincoln Memorial, our American flag,” said Mitzi Younger, GOP Women.

“Just working with the people they are the most precious people. I got to be the Grand Marshall at the Christmas Parade. So, Smithville is just very near and dear to my heart,” said Bryant.

It was First Lady Debra Bryant’s first visit to the school since two and a half years ago when the school was destroyed.
