Gov. Shutdown Affects Natchez Trace

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – Due to the recent Government shutdown, restrooms along the Natchez Trace were all locked up.

The National Park Service had signs posted on bathroom doors across the Trace.

It says on the signs, that due to the lapse in federal appropriations, the National Park Service is unable to fully staff the properties under its management.

NPS advises park visitors to use extreme caution on national park property, since staff will not be available during the shutdown.

Other park services such as maintaining roads, collecting trash, and providing services for NPS operated campgrounds were also not available.
