Goverment Shutdown’s Impact On Columbus Air Force Base

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The military mission of the Columbus Air Force Base continues in spite of the government shutdown.

The pilot training mission is continuing as normal, but civilian employees and some support functions have been impacted.

In a statement this afternoon, base officials said that about half of the base’s civilian employees were furloughed this morning, January 22.

Since the resolution passed, normal operations resumed, and those employee should return to duty.
