Governor Bryant issues State of Emergency

PEARL, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant has issued a State of Emergency.

Bryant signed a State of Emergency in response to the severe storms and flooding that’s impacted the state since May 8.

MEMA said multiple counties have experienced major flooding issues that’s led to river flooding, backwater flooding, and to many road closures of highways and county roads.

Damage has also been assessed in Pike County and Amite County due to possible tornadoes.

The State Emergency Operations Center was activated and has coordinated state resources to the county level through the response phase.

Impacted residents were encouraged to report damages and unmet needs to their local EMA Office.
