Grand jury to determine if charges will be filed in hot car death

BOONEVILLE (WCBI) – A grand jury will determine if any charges will be filed in the death of a Booneville child found dead inside his father’s car.

The preliminary autopsy confirmed 21-month-old Lincoln Dodds died from hyperthermia after accidentally being left inside the car for over eight hours.

Investigators said the father went to pick his son up at a local daycare and when staffers told him the child was not there the father realized he never dropped him off.

The chief added it was not the regular routine for the family for the father to drop his son off.

Interviews and videotape all support the story.

Booneville Police stressed that the daycare who cared for Lincoln Dodds had absolutely no role in his death.
