Grass fire breaks out on Golden Triangle highway

GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Some Golden Triangle drivers shareD the road with some firefighters Wednesday afternoon.

A grass fire brought volunteer firemen from Lowndes and Clay Counties to Highway 45 Alternate. Crews fought off flames and smoke in two different locations.

It is not known what sparked the fire in the median of the highway.

One lane of traffic was shut down while crews worked to slow the fire.

Traffic is now running smoothly and the fire was quickly put out.
