Gunshot Wound Is Cause Of Death In Homicide

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – An autopsy has revealed that a man found dead in his home by his wife died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department tells WCBI it’s still investigating the death of 40-year old Anthony Hamer of Winona. Sheriff Bubba Nix has ruled it a homicide. He tells WCBI Wednesday the department has “strong leads” in its case.

The last known contact with Hamer was Thursday night. His wife found his body Monday.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting the sheriff’s department. Coroner Allan Pratt transported Hamer to Pearl for the autopsy.

No arrests have been made in connection with the crime.
