Guntown Man Killed In Rankin County Prison

JACKSON, Miss. (MDOC)  – The Mississippi Department of Corrections is investigating the weekend death of an inmate at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.

The preliminary results of an autopsy completed today indicate that offender Michael D. Riddle, is the victim of foul play.

His death is expected to be ruled a homicide by the medical examiner.

Riddle, 29, was in prison for residential burglary larceny and armed robbery in Lee County.

He received a total of 20 years to serve, with three years’ probation, to follow on the burglary conviction.

He was sentenced on June 23, 2010.

Correctional officers found Riddle unconscious in his cell while conducting security checks at 7:22 p.m. Saturday.

No one has been charged, and no further information is being released at this time because of the ongoing investigation.
