STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Halloween is a chance to find your  alter ego, be a queen for a day or even run for the nation’s highest office.

The national retail federation estimates that Americans will spend 6.9 billion dollars on Halloween this year. That includes treats, decorations and costumes.
It’s an unofficial look at two of the hottest names this year, Donald Trump, and Caitlyn Jenner.

“We actually have almost sold out of our Donald Trump hats, we’ve got the Wigs,” Costume Party store owner Connie Willsey said.  “And we did JFK and Marilyn this past weekend, we’ve got some Mitt Romney masks, we still have calls fro Hillary and Bill, so it’s still an interesting item.”

Willsey said college students are her biggest customers when it comes to buying costumes.

“I love it. I love the creativity,” she said.  “It’s amazing to me that every year there are trends, new things that people actually think of and it becomes a costume.”

One MSU student tells me, how dressing up for Halloween is an annual tradition for her.

“It’s like the one time of year when you can look crazy and stupid and nobody judges you because everyone else is doing it,” current MSU student Kaellie Shelton said.

I even got in on the fun and dressed as a Star Wars Storm Trooper.

And The best part of working in a costume store during Halloween is of course, the costumes.

“I have to work this year but I still wanted to be festive so I grabbed these devil horns,” Anna Ellis said.

There’s no doubt that Halloween brings in a big rush of customers, and Willsey says this also has a great impact on her register.

“It’s very important for us, without this month or Halloween, we really couldn’t survive the rest of the year,” Willsey said.

According to the National Retail Federation, the number one adult costume is a classic Witch outfit.
