Hamilton Helpers #HamiltonStrong

HAMILTON, Miss. (WCBI) – The Hamilton community continued to help each other out, five days after the tornado hit.

Donations and volunteers have been pouring into the distribution and donation center, which is at the Hamilton Baptist Church.

Salvation Army is played a big role in helping the community.

Salvation Army helped facilitate the distribution center and bring in, organize and hand out donations to storm victims.

It’s the second disaster for the Columbus Salvation Army to work in two months.

Commanding Corps Officer Lt. Christian Smith said although a lot has been donated, there’s still a need for some things.

“The biggest things we need, honestly, are cleaning supplies and if people are willing to donate monetarily because we eventually need to start helping people replace some of the stuff that they’ve lost, so we’re going to need some money to help those people out.”

A fund has been set up for monetary donations called the Hamilton Tornado Relief.

Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 336 Hamilton, MS 39746.
