Heavy rain coming back

SUMMARY: The first day of 2020 will be dry but more rain is on the way. Heavy rain is likely Thursday and Thursday night with areas of rain lingering through Friday. Model data suggest anywhere between 2 and 5 inches may fall across the area and this may lead to more flooding or flash flooding. While a few storms are possible during this event the most unstable air will remain south of I-20. That is where the best chance of any strong storm activity may be Thursday and Thursday night.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mainly clear, quiet, and chilly. Lows in the low 30s. Bundle up for any New Year’s Eve festivities that you may be attending.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny skies to start with a gradual increase in cloud cover during the day. Highs in the mid to upper 50s. Winds SSW 5-10 mph.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with areas of rain developing. Milder lows in the mid 40s.

THURSDAY: Areas of heavy rain. A rumble of thunder is also possible. Chance of rain 100%. Highs around 60.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Areas of rain, some heavy. Lows in the mid 50s. Chance of rain 100%.

FRIDAY: Cloudy with lingering areas of rain and showers. Chance of rain 60%. Highs in the low 60s.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with showers possible. Lows in the low 40s.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy and cool. A few showers are possible. Highs in the 40s.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Clearing skies. Much cooler lows near 30.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Seasonable highs in the low to mid 50s. Lows near 30 Sunday night.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 50s.
