Helicopter Contract Awarded To Columbus’s Airbus

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCBI) – The Columbus Airbus Plant receives a more than $200 million grant to launch a second helicopter line.

The company will make 35 UH-72A helicopters for the U-S Army.

Senators Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, along with Congressman Trent Kelly helped provide funding for the Lakota Light Utility Helicopters.

The US Army is also pitching in roughly $136 million for the aircraft as well.

It was just last week when Columbus airbus received a civilian version of the Lakota.

The aircraft are expected to be completed by 2021.
