Here’s Alabama’s Latest Unemployment Rate

MONTGOMERY, Ala.(WCBI)- In Alabama, the states unemployment rate falls to 4.5 percent, a slight decrease from June’s jobless rate, at 4.6 percent.

A year ago, the jobless rate was 5.8 percent. A statement from Governor Kay Ivey, says Alabama’s manufacturing and construction industries are growing.

Pickens County saw a slight drop in unemployment. The jobless rate is 6.4 percent in July, compared to 6.6 percent in June. Lamar County’s unemployment rate is 4.7 percent, a drop from what it was in June, at 5 percent.

Alabama’s jobless rate remains worse than the national rate, which has fallen to a 16-year low, of 4.3 percent.
