Honoring Purple Heart Veterans

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A Columbus organization is honoring Purple Heart Veterans.

The REH Memorial Foundation hosted its inaugural “Purple Heart Gala” Saturday at the Marriott in Columbus.

The event featured a special ceremony to recognize fifteen former and retired military members who received the Purple Heart.

The award is given to military men and women wounded or killed while serving. It is the oldest military award given to service members.

The REH Foundation provides resources and services to veterans in the Golden Triangle area.
