Honoring Veterans In Noxubee County

MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – The City of Macon Chapter of The National Society Of Daughters Of The Revolution and representatives of the Richard Holmes Foundation hosted a veterans celebration as well.

The groups recognized the Noxubee High School Junior ROTC, highlighted the cadet of the year, and awarded a Noxubee High School student with a “Good Citizen” certificate.

N.S.D.A.R. Defense Chairman Martha Stennis says it’s a priority for the organization to give back to the youth and instill a love of the country.

“One of the legs of our mission is patriotism. We want to build it in anyway that we can. You start with the children, then you keep up with the veterans,” said Stennis.

Plans are already in the works for next year’s event.
