Houlka School Construction Update

CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The new Houlka School facility continues being built.

Construction started back in August and Chickasaw County Superintendent Dr. Betsy Collums is hoping to be in the new building by this upcoming August.

The 10 to 12 month project will house third through sixth grades and administrative staff.

The building has 11 classrooms including a special needs classroom and a computer lab.

Dr. Collums says she’s looking forward to the much needed facility.

“We have been able to have classes in an older building, during the time we were preparing to build the building, and dealing with insurance, but it will really be an uplift and positive note to be in a new building and have the extra space and be able to start school in a brand new facility next year,” says Collums.

The superintendent anticipates completion by the beginning of summer.
