House District 38 Winner Cheikh Taylor Speaks

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Voters in House District 38 have chosen their new representative.

Cheikh Taylor came out on top in the three-person race, beating former Starkville Alderwoman Lisa Wynn and community activist Narissa Bradford.

Taylor currently serves as the executive director of the Brickfire Project and is a native of Starkville.

He says public service has always been a part of his life and he looks forward to continuing the legacy of retired representative Tyrone Ellis.

“I looked at Mr. Ellis and admired him for being the man that he is and thought that one day, hopefully that I can inspire to do the same thing, and my work in the community has led me to do the same thing that has led me to this moment,” said Taylor.

In District 38, Taylor also won the two precincts in Clay County and the only one in Lowndes County.
