(PRESS RELEASE)- On August 31, 2017, the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department was notified that partial human remains were found in a yard, on CR 247 which is in the north-eastern part of the county.  Sheriff investigators arrived on scene and spoke with the homeowner who stated that he noticed his dogs had a skull that appeared to be human, in the front yard of his residence.

A search was conducted around the immediate area of the residence, but due to the severe weather conditions during that time, the search had to be called off due to safety concerns.  Officials will begin today with a search of the area, pending on the weather conditions, for the rest of the remains.  Of course, this is in the area of the county of the reported missing female, Susie Rena Lanier, who was reported missing by her husband on June 6, 2017.  The skull was released to the Tishomingo County Coroner to be sent to the Forensics Lab in Jackson to obtain identification of the skull.

Sheriff Daugherty asks the public to please refrain from going anywhere in the area of CR 247 / CR 172 during this time while the search is being conducted.
