ICC President Retiring, Replacement Named

FULTON, Miss. — Itawamba Community College President Dr. David C. Cole has announced his retirement, effective June 30.

ICC’s Board of Trustees accepted Cole’s retirement last night at its monthly board meeting at the Fulton Campus and named Mike Eaton of Fulton president, effective July 1.

Over the last 38 years, Eaton, who is a native of Ripley, has served the College in several capacities. “At each position, he has earned the respect and trust of his colleagues,” Cole said.

Eaton has served as assistant football coach, head football coach (1974-92), health instructor, director of Student Activities, athletic director, assistant dean of Students, dean of Students and vice president of Student Services at ICC. He is a member of the ICC, MACJC and NJCAA Athletic Halls of Fame.

“He (Eaton) is credited with providing the leadership for every major initiative the College has undertaken in the last few years,” Cole said. “His experience and love for the College make him the natural choice to be selected in the College’s succession planning.”
