Johnson defeats challenger for fifth term as Lee County sheriff

The sheriff said the election totals show the public is supportive of the job he and his staff are doing.

“By the numbers you see, of people who get out and support you, being your fifth term, it’s easy to govern a group of people whenever you have that type of support, and that is something I’m thankful, humble for and appreciative of and we will continue to serve people like we always have, regardless of if you voted for me or not and we will do that is necessary to make this county a safe place,” Sheriff Johnson said.
