Keenum Talks Arts

MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. (WCBI) – Theatre students are learning how the arts play a role in their education.

The Summer Scholars program continues on the Mississippi State campus.

Gifted and talented students interested in theatre are creating their own play.

They will direct and write the performance.

On Thursday, MSU President Dr. Mark Keenum talks with the kids about the importance of the arts.

“We always want them to have an appreciation of the arts and the humanities, and I think programs like this we’re doing here with our Summer Scholars helps instill the importance of humanities and the liberal arts for a well rounded education,” said Keenum.

The Summer Scholars play will be Friday at 7 PM and again Saturday at 1 PM at MSU’s McComas Hall.
