Lafayette County Adopts New Drug Testing Rules
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – The Lafayette County will require new hires to undergo testing for drugs and alcohol before they begin work.
County Administrator Joseph Johnson tells the Oxford Eagle (http://bit.ly/1mM3phe ) that all employees from solid waste to Lafayette County officials will now be required to participate in a drug test prior to hire.
Johnson says the test is aimed to catch substance abuse issues before anyone starts work.
He says those who are required to have a commercial driver’s license for employment with the county will also have pre-employment drug testing.
Johnson says the county has had random drug testing for county employees.
Johnson says the board of supervisors will next consider a requirement to have background checks as part of pre-employment procedures.
