Lafayette County Court Cleared To Hear Rebel Rags Lawsuit

JACKSON (WCBI) – The Mississippi Supreme Court says a lawsuit filed by an Oxford business against 2 Mississippi State football players will be heard in Lafayette County.  Ole Miss merchandise outlet Rebel Rags is suing Kobe Jones and Leo Lewis claiming they lied to the NCAA about the store giving the pair free clothing.  Those claims led to the store being forced to disassociate with the University but that is on hold right now.   Jones and Lewis were asking the case to be moved to Oktibbeha County because that’s where they lived but the Supreme Court says it should be heard in Lafayette County because that’s where the allegations took place.  Rebel Rags also added former MSU Coach Dan Mullen and former AD Scott Stricklin to the complaint along with the NCAA and NCAA Investigator Mike Sheridan.  The store is claiming the defendants orchestrated the claims against it and as a result has harmed the store’s business and reputation.
