Large scale drug ring leader indicted

VERONA (WCBI) One of the largest methamphetamine distributors in North Mississippi. That’s what federal agents are calling a Verona man indicted Tuesday on drug trafficking charges. Court filings say Jeremy Mairidith runs a widespread operation focusing on Lee County and surrounding areas. The affidavit says since late April officers have logged over 2,000 separate phone conversations where drug sales were discussed. The investigation tracked Mairidith and others on flights to California to buy drugs and shipments from Sacramento to Mairidith’s home on Texas Avenue in Verona. He is being held pending a federal court hearing later this week.   The Lee and Itawamba County Sheriffs department, North Mississippi Narcotics and Tupelo Police all assisted federal agencies in making the case.
