OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — A former Ole Miss student is being honored with a scholarship in his name.

Fenton Kottkamp would’ve turned 23 on September 29, but he was killed in a sledding accident earlier this year.

Now several well-known folks like football legend Archie Manning, and Papa John’s Pizza CEO John Schnatter created a scholarship in Kottkamp’s memory.

A crowdfunding initiative was launched Friday, and organizers want to double the $29,000 currently in the endowment.

“I really encourage people to take a look at this and participate and help out, and it will be special for some other great young people to come and be on our campus and be on this scholarship,” Manning said.

“I think Fenton would just be proud,” said Rush Kottkamp, Fenton’s brother. “His time was short here, but to see how big of an impact he had and how much everyone is out there supporting him, I think it would have just meant the world to him.”

Information on how to contribute to the scholarship can be found here: https://ignite.olemiss.edu/lovefenton.

Ole Miss fans will also be handing out #lovefenton stickers in the Grove before Saturday’s game.
