Lawsuit brought against Columbus School District, former choir director

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The student that former Columbus High School Choir Director Michael Jackson targeted as a potential child sex victim is suing Jackson and the Columbus School District.

Michael Jackson, the former Columbus High School Choir Director, is currently serving seven years in prison.

The victim, who is now an adult, filed a 12-count claim against Jackson and the District saying not enough was done to investigate Jackson and to protect the student when the first claims of improper sexual advances were made.

The suit also said the school district harassed both the victim and his parents because they filed a criminal complaint instead of letting the school district investigate the claims.

Jackson is currently serving a seven year prison sentence on Child Exploitation charges, a criminal case based on the testimony of the person filing Friday’s lawsuit.
