PLANTERSVILLE, Miss. (AP) – Lee County authorities are investigating the death of a 74-year-old man whose body was discovered Thursday at a lake in Plantersville near Tombigbee State Park.

County Coroner Carolyn Gillentine Green has identified the man as Ray Strength.

Sheriff Jim Johnson says the incident happened at Lake Wilhelmina. Johnson says Strength had been out fishing all day and that neighbors had gone out to look for him.

Green says an autopsy will be conducted.

Johnson says the man was fishing from a small boat that was found upright but partially filled with water. His tackle box and fishing pole were missing. He says the case is being treated as an apparent drowning pending the autopsy.
