Lee Montgomery Named NMMC’s Employee Of The Month

TUPELO, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) — Lee Montgomery, laboratory manager in the Pathology Department, has been selected as North Mississippi Medical Center’s Employee of the Month for March.

Montgomery joined NMMC as a medical technologist in 1980. He is a graduate of South Pontotoc High School and earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s of education degree from the University of Mississippi.

He also earned certification as a medical technologist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Montgomery has served as director of NMMC’s School of Medical Technology since 1993.

In addition to serving as lab manager, a role he has served in since 2009, Montgomery also is technical director of Respiratory Therapy at NMMC-Tupelo and Women’s Hospital.

“The best part of my job is knowing that I have contributed my best to the care of our patients at NMMC,” Montgomery said.

In his nomination, coworkers described him as hardworking and an asset to the Pathology Department.

“You always know that Lee will accomplish any assigned task in not only a very thorough but also a very timely manner,” one coworker wrote in his nomination.

“He is extremely conscientious in everything. He takes personal responsibility for whatever he does and holds himself personally accountable for the quality of his work.”

“Lee often goes above and beyond the call of duty and never says ‘that’s not my job,’” another coworker wrote.

“Lee graciously takes ownership of problems and works to resolve them. Lee is dependable, kind and efficient.”

Montgomery resides in Pontotoc and attends Fairview United Methodist Church.
