Local Group Helps With Aftermath In Hati
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-We first brought you the story last week about a local missionary group going to Haiti to help in the aftermath.
They’ve been in Haiti for five days now.
Steve McCay is a representative of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, and teamed up with Hispaniola Mountain Ministries to help with some of the damage in Haiti.
McCay said once he got there..and saw all of the wreckage that was caused by Hurricane Matthew he was left speechless.
McCay said its total devastation over there.
Residents have no shelter.
Clothes and even covers are being used to as shelter to cover the heads of residents.
McCay said many of the people there haven’t eaten since Hurricane Matthew first struck.
So, wanting to do lend a helping hand, Mccay’s missionary group took rice and beans to help feed residents. They also brought blue tarps for them to use as shelter.
Mccay made it back home Sunday night from being over in Haiti, however his fellow group members will remain there for another two weeks.
McCay said he plans to make another trip over to Haiti.
