Starkville, Miss. (WCBI) — The National Guard’s slogan is “always there, always ready”. And one local servicemen is not only ready for service, but ready for the big screen.

Juan Corrigan is an actor.

And on top of that, he’s a soldier.

As an active serving National Guardsmen, he did 2 tours in Iraq.

Corrigan said he started both careers around the same time and acting is something that has grown from the beginning.

“Acting started as a side job, like anything else, but it has evolved. It has taken several years to do this…I went from being an extra, to getting an agency, to setting multiple agencies and all of a sudden things just started clicking.”

And after acting in many independent films, commercials, and other hollywood productions, he got the chance to be a part of the highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot.

Corrigan got the chance to go see the film with his two sons, Diego, 9, and Gabriel, 4, and they say they hope to see him some more on the big screen.

He also said that being an actor and a soldier allows him to gain many different perspectives on life.

“First of all as a solider, it gives you a perspective of, you know, what we can do and all the thing that we appreciate and of course as an actor, its gives you a perspective of the things that you can imagine or dream about or when you’re a kid, so its kind of like a dream you know, and you’re actually a kid but at the same time you’re living it in a way…”, said Corrigan.

In the National Guard, Corrigan served in the special forces, intelligence, and also engineering.

You can catch him in other Hollywood films like 21 grams, Nothing but the Truth, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
