Local Uber drivers prepare for New Year’s Eve night

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Uber drivers throughout Columbus are preparing for a busy night as New Year’s Eve celebrations are set to begin.

Drivers will be out all night in Columbus to help people safely get to where they need to go.

The Friendly City has roughly seven uber drivers

To request a ride, all you have to do is download the Uber app, select your pick up and drop off locations, then Uber will notify you when your driver is near.

Police said requesting an Uber can help prevent people from getting a D-U-I.

“W’re just on standby. If they need us, they call us. We tried to back up the police if they need us to. Instead of them going to jail, we’d rather get them home safely and then come back later and get your car,” said driver Annie Barkley.
