Louisville kicks off 39th-Annual Red Hills Festival

WINSTON COUNTY,Miss.(WCBI)-As the summer rolls in, more festivals are kicking off.

The city of Louisville hosted their 39th-Annual Red Hills Festival.

Over several years, this festival has grown bigger and bigger.

Lines are everywhere on Main Street in Louisville.

And getting through the maze of people might be a challenge.

The Red Hills festival brings food, amusement rides, musical entertainment and a car show.

But those aren’t the only reasons why people come out. It’s the vendors.

For the past 20 years, Ann Coghlan and her husband come to the festival to sell art.

“God gave me some special to do. I’ve always been interested in painting and in gourds,” said Coghlan.

Coghlan has decorated these gourds for over 20 years.

” They’re so unique you can do anything with them,” said Coghlan.

Coghlan says putting inspirational messages on the gourds is one way she to connect with clients.

” People like to have the word of encouragement that they can just look at and pass it along to someone else that may be having a hard time,” Coghlan.

Down the street sits vendor Doreen Kennedy.

Kennedy sells a diverse collection of art.

” I just love to be creative with my hands,” said Kennedy.

Kennedy says participating in the festival allows her to connect with the community.

“It’s an opportunity not to just get my word out there for people to see but to meet other vendors and getting to know other people,” said Kennedy.

Both artist say they plan to continue to participate each year.
